Trials of Koohoo

Trials of Koohoo is my second public project I’ve released. It was made in the Quake engine using the Trenchbroom software. This level is twice the size of my previous release and was a massive challenge to finish but one that I overcame.
With this level I wanted to design the experience around player choice. The player is given a choice between two rooms on three separate occasions and each choice results in a different gameplay experience and different rewards for those that explore every nook and cranny.
I’ve polished and rounded out these choices based on extensive player testing and feedback across multiple sessions.
The end result is, as described by many players, an old school adventure feel, almost like tomb raider or Indiana Jones.
